Semester Reflections

As I opened up my computer this morning, I started thinking about all that has happened this semester and how things are really winding to a close for many students right now. It is exam time for counteless students throughout the region and while that means closing the books and pulling out the suntan lotion for some… I’m finding that is not the case for many pro-life students.

The summer time is planning time – gearing up for next year and learning all you can to save more babies from abortion. Just this morning, one of those students, John, posted that they had a baby saved from abortion because of their last event on campus. Way to go out with a bang! This same student is hoping to help us plan one of our regional conferences this fall.

I remember when I was a student at Central Michigan University. As my years in school progressed, I became more and more involved with the pro-life group. So, when I thought about summer – I thought about how nice it would be to be able to spend more time working on pro-life stuff since I wouldn’t have classes to worry about. This is the attitude that many of our student leaders are taking and I am very impressed! Some of these students are so dedicated that they are going the extra mile to find pro-life internships this summer and learn more about how to be a better pro-life activist.

I am excited to see how we can help these students learn more to make a bigger impact this fall. Just last week I met with some students at Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Missouri and we discussed some ideas on how to boost membership. I’m thrilled to see what they come up with!

This semester has been excellent. We held our first-ever Midwest Regional Conference where we trained and equipped students to bring more information back to their campus. We had some pretty outstanding events on campuses – including the most recent Genocide Awareness Project display at Mizzou. Students have been making some serious waves on their campuses and in their communities. Thanks for all YOUR support throughout the semester. I can’t wait to share the successes that will be coming our way this next year!

One thing that IS coming up very quickly is a pro-life Theology on Tap session and service day in St. Louis! Theology on Tap will take place on Tuesday, May 8 at Kirkwood Station Brewing. We will also be rounding up some young adults in the community to volunteer at Our Lady’s Inn in St. Charles and St. Louis on Saturday, May 12. We will be posting a sign up sheet on the Young Adult Ministry site soon. So, keep your eyes peeled!

Rockhurst University, "Hawks for Life" held their pro-life week last week in accordance with National Pro-life T-shirt Week
